Are you an acoustic guitarist who wants to get beyond strumming basic chords? Do you want to explore the root genres of popular music? I specialise in fingerstyle folk and blues guitar playing. Perfect for singer-songwriters who want to learn to accompany themselves with greater musicianship and for any players looking to increase their versatility. From absolute beginners to advanced players, I have you covered.

I decided early on that rather than teaching 'all styles and abilities' as many guitar tutors do, that I would focus my teaching on what I was knowledgeable and passionate about - Folk and Blues music! I make all my own sheet music for songs that I teach and have amassed a library of 100s of songs from a wide array of artists from the greats of the 1920s through to the 1960s and the present day.

Lessons will get you learning classics from Bob Dylan to Robert Johnson. As well as learning songs you will learn techniques, exercises, and guitar-centred music theory. This balanced approach will help you understand the internal workings of your favourite music and bring it over into your own playing, turning you into a well-rounded musician, whilst having lots of fun in the process!

Example artists we will learn the songs of:
Elizabeth Cotten, Maybelle Carter, Lightnin' Hopkins, Laura Marling, Doc Watson, Bert Jansch, Bukka White, Son House, Joni Mitchell, John Martyn, Mississippi John Hurt, John Fahey, Townes Van Zandt, Davy Graham, Leonard Cohen, Richard Thompson, Rev. Gary Davis, Dave Van Ronk.

Available in person (Kentish Town - 2 minutes from underground station) or online via Zoom/Skype.
